learn. Italian is a beautiful language and the first step to learning it
(as with an language) is the basics. The first group of phrases are the
bare essentials.
- Salve - Hello
- Pronto - Hello! When you answer the phone or 'Sono pronto' - I'm ready
- Ciao! - Hi! or bye, bye! (Depending on when you say it obviously)
- Buon giorno! -Good morning!
- Buon pomeriggio - Good afternoon!
- Buona sera - Good evening!
- Buona notte - Good night (usually say this before going to bed)
- Come sta? - How are you?
- Ci sentiamo bene - We're feeling fine.
- Grazie - Thanks
- Mi dispiace - I'm sorry
- Mi scusi - excuse me
- Mi chiamo Michele - My name is Michael
- Piacere di conosceria - Pleased to meet you
- Questa e la mia moglie - This is my wife
- Questo e il mio marito - This is my husband
- Come si chiama? - What is your name?
- Di dov'e? - Where are you from?
- Dove lavora? - Where do you work?
